2018 Ram 2500 vs 2018 Ford F-250 near Baker City, OR

When looking for a pickup truck, especially one that is heavy-duty and highly capable, finding the perfect one can be difficult. There are a lot of options out there, and with that many options, you can easily become overwhelmed. That’s why we are here to help. We have chosen two of the top heavy-duty pickup trucks, and we are going to pit them against one another in order to determine which one comes out on top. The two trucks in question are the 2018 Ram 2500 and the 2018 Ford F-250. The 2018 Ram 2500 has a few changes for this model year. A rearview camera is now standard on every model, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There is also an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and a few new package options. In the previous model year, the Ford F-250 was completely redesigned, so in 2018 there are only a few minor changes. The biggest change is the addition of the Limited trim, which is now the top trim level. There are also a few changes when it comes to optional features and standard features. Which one of these trucks will come out on top? Continue reading to find out!

2018 Ram 2500 Power & Handling

The 2018 Ram 2500 comes with three different engine options. All of them are incredibly powerful and are ready for the tough tasks. The first of these engines is a 5.7-liter V8, which can produce 400 pound-feet of torque and 383 horsepower. The next engine is a 6.4-liter V8, which can create 429 pound-feet of torque and 410 horsepower. These two engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The third and final engine is a turbocharged 6.7-liter diesel six-cylinder, which has the capabilities to produce 660 lb-ft of torque and 350 horsepower when matched with a 6-speed manual transmission. Those numbers shift to 370 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. You can tow up to 17,980 pounds, and you can carry around 3,890 pounds in the bed.

2018 Ford F-250 Power & Handling

Two engine options are offered with the Ford F-250. The first of these is a 6.2-liter V8, which can generate 430 pound-feet of torque and 385 horsepower. This engine works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The second engine offered is a turbocharged 6.7-liter diesel V8, generating 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque. This engine also works with the six-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also get rear-wheel drive as standard, although all-wheel drive is an option. The lack of a third engine puts the Ford F-250 at a disadvantage, especially when your choices are one gasoline engine or one diesel engine.

2018 Ram 2500 Features & Design

When it comes to options, the Ram 2500 has plenty of them. There are two bed lengths, seven trim levels, and three different cab styles. The base trim, named Tradesman, comes with a driver information display, a locking tailgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with an incorporated rearview camera display, 17-inch steel wheels, an 8-speaker stereo, vinyl upholstery, air conditioning, and a 40/20/40-split front bench. Another offered trim is the SLT. This option comes with a five-inch touchscreen interface, satellite radio, Bluetooth, an overhead console, carpeted floors, a power-sliding rear window, an integrated trailer brake controller, full power accessories, remote locking and unlocking, and power heated mirrors. An even higher option is the Laramie Longhorn. This premium trim will get you front bucket seats, power-adjustable pedals with memory settings, upgraded leather upholstery, LED bed lights, a spray-in bed liner, accent-colored bumpers, heated rear seats, a chrome mesh grille, and a full center console.
