Are you looking into getting an SUV for your growing family? If your answer is yes, then you have probably been looking into a Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Toyota Highlander. Both are excellent choices with the Highlander remaining unchanged for 2018 and the Grand Cherokee supercharging its new engine. The Grand Cherokee offers five engines to choose from. The top engine is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. This engine can reach 60 mph from a standstill in less than 3.5 seconds! The maximum towing capability for the Grand Cherokee is an incredible 7,400 pounds. The choice is available for rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and all engines come with an eight-speed automatic.

2018 Toyota Highlander Power & Handling

The Highlander offers two engine choices. The top choice is a 3.5-liter inline-4 with 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. These engines come with the option of a six-speed automatic transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The option is available for either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The Grand Cherokee offers the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk trims. Each trim builds off the previous with a few tweaks for off-roading capabilities on the Trailhawk and Trackhawk trims for improved performance. Additionally, a few packages and extra options are available to the upper level trims to add on and many of the lower level trims are capable of adding some of the upper level features. This helps to customize the Grand Cherokee into the exact SUV that works best for your needs and wants. 

2018 Toyota Highlander Features & Design

The trim levels of the Highlander are the LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited, and the Limited Platinum. The base engine is pretty basic and each trim that follows simply adds a little more to the mix. There are no extra packages or features, so whichever trim you choose is exactly what you are looking at. The only parts that can be changed are the choice to have or not have the tight-squeeze second-row bench instead of captain’s chairs on the top trim levels.
