Gladiator Wins Truck of Year Award

Gladiator Wins Truck of Year Award

Brought to you by Legacy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

We are proud to announce that the most capable truck ever, the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, has been named the 2020 North American Truck of the Year in it's debut year! The prestigious title is based on the votes of 50 expert jurors across the United States and Canada from digital outlets, radio, print, and television! The diverse set of jurors from all over the two countries adds to the honor of the award. Eligible vehicles for the title are put through three rounds of voting and are judged on segment leadership, innovation, safety, design, driver satisfaction, handling, and value for your money. We have been enamored with the 2020 Jeep Gladiator since it debuted and we're ecstatic to see the truck take home the title of 2020 North American Truck of the Year!

Can you tell me more about the Jeep Gladiator?

Certainly! The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a four-door midsize pickup truck that is based on the design and style of the Jeep Wrangler. The most iconic feature of the Jeep Wrangler is the fold-down windshield, removable metal doors, and removable hard or soft-top roof are also present on the Jeep Gladiator, which gives the truck open-air freedom you can't find on any other truck on the market today! Beyond all the removable and fold down parts, the truck comes with a five-foot steel bed, best-in-class towing, rugged utility, and a comfortable interior!

What can I find for features on the Jeep Gladiator?

The model lineup of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is composed of four trim levels the base Sport, the Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon. Bluetooth, cruise control, a rearview camera, all-season tires, and an eight-speaker sound system are all found on the Gladiator Sport along with anti-sway control, four-and-seven-pin trailer plug, and a Class II bumper hitch. The Sport S adds on to the Sport models features lists with heated power mirrors, power windows, an auto-dimming review mirror, and alloy wheels. The Sport S also unlocks a wide range of features for the Gladiator including a 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, automatic climate control, a rail-based cargo management system, and a 115-volt power outlet in the bed. The Overland including the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with LED ambient footwell lighting, a 110-volt outlet in the center console, and side steps. The overt rock-crawler of the group is the Rubicon model with Fox shock absorbers, 33-inch all-terrain tires, rock rails, skid plates, and a different four-wheel-drive system.

Can you tell me about the four-wheel-drive system you mentioned?

Sure can! The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon comes outfitted with a Rock-Track 4x4 system that comes with a "4LO" ratio of 4:1 plus Tru-Lok locking differentials. The Sport and Overland variants of the Gladiator come with a Command-Trac 4x4 system that uses heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles that have a rear axle ratio of 3.73. The system also features a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. Each version of the Gladiator is capable of up to 30-inch of water fording, an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, a breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees.

What powers the Gladiator?

Right out of the gate, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is powered by an award-winning 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine, which can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission is capable of towing up to 7,650 pounds! Engines paired with the available automatic transmission also come with engine stop-start technology to increase efficiency. Late availability options for the 2020 Jeep Gladiator include a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine with ESS and an eight-speed automatic transmission designed to handle the increased torque of the diesel engine. Just how much torque does the EcoDiesel engine produces, you ask? The EcoDiesel engine pumps out 442 lb-ft of torque along with 260 horsepower.
